In our first segment of 10 Questions, Emily Mort shares her experiences as a graphic designer, her education, and her interview process.
“If by chance you didn’t know, my name is Emily Mort and I am a graphic designer. I have been interested in this field since high school, so therefore in college it became my major. I have an Associates of ScienceDegree in Graphic Arts & Design and I am going for my Bachelors of Science in Marketing. So these next few years should be interesting.
Now my as for my work history, I started out by working part time at Winn-Dixie as a cashier and absolutely hated it. Then I was transferred to the Bakery and I met some pretty amazing people. From there my journey really began. I gained more confidence and developed my work ethic. I started an internship at a local print shop, Graphic Systems Installers, and I learned more about printing, graphic design, and how those two things connect. I worked there for awhile before I went back to Winn-Dixie. After a few months of working in the bakery I started the job search yet again and came across a Real Estate company that needed help in graphic design and marketing. So the day after the interview I was offered the job, and I absolutely love it. All of this happened within the span of two years, which I think is absolutely crazy. If you want to learn more about me and what I do, please visit my website www.emilysmort.com, anything you could ever want to know about me is on there.”
